Picture it: San Antonio, Texas. Spring, 2013. A group of musicians with a vision of a band for San Antonio’s Pride Parade in 2014. The word spread like wildfire, and those crazy kids welcomed musicians from all walks of life who wanted to perform. Schedules were adjusted and a few weeks later the Pride of San Antonio Showband was marching down Main Street a full year ahead of schedule!

Within a few weeks, the newly formed Showband was invited to perform in Austin’s Pride Parade. The day after the parade in the Capital, the band received a warm welcome and an invitation from the Oak Lawn Band in Dallas to join them in their Pride celebration. Literally an hour later, the President of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association in Washington D.C. contacted the Showband and extended an invitation to become a member of their organization. Our membership in the LGBA became a reality on October 12, 2013. The LGBA has member bands in cities all across the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.  What an honor for a band still in its infancy!

Now in our tenth year, the Pride of San Antonio Showband continues to grow and perform music throughout the South Central Texas area. We invite musicians of all ability levels to make music with us. Don’t let your instrument stay in the closet—come play with us!
